Three Things I Like About Spokane

The 1909 Loof Carousel

Frederick Law Olmstead's Manito Park
And the gigantic 40ft high Totem (e'hem) Pole in River Front Park, next to a childrens playground, that no one in town has ever noticed is sporting a 12 FOOT erect penis...ever...since Expo. Took my "dirty city mind" to notice it. How could this be missed? I MISSED it in High School! Just walked right past, never noticing with everyone else.
I hope to find more hidden gems of culture here.

Being Harrassed By A Scientology Guard For Taking A Picture Of An Historic Building

Their new tactic is to take pictures of you taking pictures of them to intimidate you. Unfortunately I could give a rats ass about Scientologists, and this JERK kept blocking my view of Hedda Hoppers Office. Your glib Brian, your glib.

I Drove All Over America And All I Got Was This FABULOUS HAT! In 3D! In THE ROUND!

Detailing How I Spent My Summer Vacation. Since I just started the hat this summer I am trying to fill it in with places I went BEFORE Summer Vacation....SO, dear Blog Fans, I'm asking for retroactive donations if you are near them (I've already gotten a retroactive Hap-pea and Pea-Wee, and an Angel Moroni!)...I could use:
Calfornia Redwood
Bohemian Grove
Confusion Hill
Grauman's Chinese Theatre
The Empire State Building
McSorley's Old Ale House
The Stardust Hotel (Vintage)
The Golden Gate Bridge
Disneyland
Hearst Castle
St. Louis Arch

Tambo Commendeering The Bottom Bunk In The Trailer

The fact that the top bunk is only 9 inches from the cieling, thus suitable for only corpses, kids, and cats, did not stop him...And he was just too cute to kick off. That once.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Montana

Hitting Surgis was ok (I had a trailer and an old Lady Car instead of a bike) but it ROCKED that I made it in time for The Rock Creek Lodge's Famous Testicle Festival!

And of course stopped at Lincoln 10000 Silver Dollar bar to wash my nards down with whiskey!

When I was a kid people said there was nothing in Montana. They were so wrong.

My Very First 3D Picture of My First Car

Even though it was on 35 mm and sucked, it turned out that, me, a vintage Oldsmobile, and a slide bar would one day Conquer America
!
...Of course with the help of my trusty companion, the Wild Tambolope I rescued from a bear trap in Wyoming.

One With My Favorite Coffee Table!

And One With The Wall Of Fame Autographs...Corey Allen to Cole Porter.

It's not Lanewood, but it's a damn sight better than The LAS PALMAS HOTEL, let me tell ya!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Deadwood

...drinking and gambling. Just to fit in of course.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: In The Badlands

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: At The Hotel Alex Johnson

It wasn't The Plaza...But I got just as drunk as I did at The Oak Bar

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Rapid City, Just Like Cary Grant

I got in at 1am after 15 hours of driving on windy Pine Ridge Reservation Roads, and ended up at the famous hotel Alex Johnson (like Hitch did). Can you IMAGINE my horror as I dragged a suitcase a couple of blocks from my trailer to find a life size statue of Nixon sitting malevelontly on the sidewalk in the dark on a Chinese Dragon chair? I was affraid I had died in an accident and Dick was my "Hitchhiker!"

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Wounded Knee

Never Arrive at a Massacre site 80 miles from a motel, just as the sun sets. CREEPY.
Thanks to Little Moon, who showed me the mass grave in the dark, I wouldn't have found it without you, and wouldn't have gone in if I was alone.

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: 1880s Town, SD

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Miles On Either Side Of Wall Drug

But when I got there...Free wax dummies to look at and Free Icewater?
Sounds Like A Party!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation: Mitchell, SD

At THE WORLDS ONLY Corn Palace!
I know, you're asking yourself, how can that BE? Every town should have one.
